Hoya Sweetheart Variegated

A Heart-Shaped Beauty for Every Plant Lover

The Hoya Sweetheart Variegated (Hoya kerrii variegata) is as charming as it sounds. With its thick, heart-shaped leaves edged in creamy white or yellow, this adorable plant is a symbol of love and natural beauty. Often sold as a single “heart leaf” in small pots, it’s the perfect gift for plant lovers, romantic occasions, or anyone who appreciates unique greenery. Beyond its cuteness, this slow-growing succulent is incredibly easy to care for, thanks to its water-storing leaves and drought tolerance. It thrives in bright spaces and adds a delightful touch of personality to shelves, desks, or windowsills.

Note: The single heart-shaped leaf is a cutting without a stem node, meaning it will stay as a “leaf” and not grow into a vine. For a fully vining plant, make sure to find one with an established stem, like in our 6" planter.

Plant Details:

  • Mature Height: Cuttings stay 2-4 inches, vining sizes (6" planter only) may extend to 10 feet (as a vine, with proper support and care)
  • Mature Width: Vining Plant
  • Sun Exposure: Bright, indirect light; some gentle morning sun is beneficial
  • Water Needs: Allow the soil to dry out between waterings; water sparingly
  • Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity but adapts to normal household levels
  • Temperature: 65–80°F (18–27°C); avoid cold drafts
  • Botanical Name: Hoya kerrii variegata
  • Common Names: Variegated Hoya Sweetheart, Heart Leaf Hoya, Sweetheart Plant, Heart Succulent, Sweetheart Succulent

Why You’ll Love It

The Variegated Hoya Sweetheart "Heart Plant" is not just another cute plant—it’s a low-maintenance succulent with a long lifespan and stunning visual appeal. Its heart-shaped leaves are thick, glossy, and edged with creamy variegation that makes each one feel like a little work of art.

While some of our variants are sold as a single heart-shaped cutting (3" and 4" planters), the 6" planter variant of this Hoya Heart Plant can grow into a vining plant that adds soft, trailing charm to any corner of your home. Hang it from a planter, let it climb with support, or enjoy its tidy look as a small potted accent.

Care Tip: Hoya Sweetheart thrives on neglect—water sparingly and avoid soggy soil. It loves bright, filtered light, which helps maintain its stunning variegation.

Whether you’re gifting it as a token of love or adding it to your collection for its unique look, the Variegated Hoya Sweetheart is a plant that will steal hearts and bring joy for years to come.

4-stars: 'The Sun and the Moon' by Rebekah Faubion
Format: Kindle, Format: Kindle
I enjoyed reading The Lovers last year and was eager to read Rebekah’s new book, The Sun and the Moon. Gorgeous covers always draw me in, and both books have stunning designs. After reading the synopsis, I knew I would enjoy this one. I love stories where opposites attract and soulmates are destined to meet. I loved getting to know Cadence and Sydney as they met at their parents’ engagement party. Cadence doesn’t have a close relationship with her mother, but she tries to find out if her mom is up to no good. She meets Sydney, whose father is marrying Cadence’s mother. Sydney is curious about her father’s quick engagement and agrees to help Cadence uncover the truth and possibly stop the wedding. As they spend time together, their undeniable connection grows, suggesting their meeting was fate. I enjoyed this Sapphic Romance and its engaging storyline. The chemistry between Cadence and Sydney was enthralling. I understood both characters’ skepticism about their parents’ wedding. Cadence’s concerns about her mother felt clear, and while investigating, she also becomes protective when it comes to her mother’s business. I understood Sydney, too, who simply wants to protect her father, whom she admires. Both struggle with their parents getting married at first, but ultimately become closer to each other and their parents as truths are revealed. The book focuses heavily on Cadence’s mother, sometimes overshadowing other elements. Still, I enjoyed the soulmates storyline between Cadence and Sydney. Overall, this book earns four stars from me, and I look forward to reading more by Rebekah Faubion. Single/Dual POV: Dual POV. Would I recommend this book? Yes. If you like Sapphic Romance with two FMCs who are opposites and destined to meet, I definitely recommend The Sun and The Moon. What to Expect: ✓Sapphic Romance ✓Opposites Attract ✓One Bed ✓Soulmates

Not for me
Format: Kindle
🔆Bookish Thoughts This one just didn’t work for me. I really struggled to connect with either of the FMCs, and I found the pacing incredibly slow. So much of the story focused on Cadence’s complicated relationship with her mom, and it became repetitive fast. I also had a hard time getting into the romance. The “destined to be together” angle felt forced, and there was a lot more internal monologue than actual connection on the page. And both Cadence and Sydney seemed emotionally immature. Honestly, I didn't like either FMC. The premise was really cute, but I think I was expecting more of a romcom vibe, especially with the whole reverse Parent Trap setup. But it ended up feeling dry, and I found myself tuning out and just not that interested. That said, if you’re into slow burns with a lot of emotional processing, this might be more your thing. 📅 Pub Date: August 12, 2025 Thank you to Berkley Publishing Group and NetGalley for the advanced copy. All thoughts are my own.

Cadence + Sydney
Format: Kindle
This book was so good. No flaws, I’m obsessed. The scheming parents, the family drama, the “forbidden” romance. All of it had me grasping for more. I love a good sapphic romance and this book did NOT disappoint!! The premise of this story was so compelling and I really felt for the main characters in their personal self-discovery journey as well as their familial relationship journey. It is pretty insta-love, but the background and actual plot make it so worth it. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a sapphic romance with a little magical twist to it!

It truly is the most Essential Guide
Format: Paperback
I've worked as a professional comic book letterer for more than a decade. I've had to learn a lot through trial and error since there was so little written about this technical field of work. Finally, there is now a book for amateur letterers to have all they need to understand the craft and for professional letterers to both reference and pick up new ideas from. This book isn't just a tutorial on "how to letter comics." This also showcases creative ways to letter, interesting techniques that even experienced letterers might not know about, and - what I found to be the most helpful - the realities of a letterer's freelance life and ways the write had worked to develop a good workflow and healthy work schedule to avoid burnout or physical strain. This is an engaging book, so even if you know how to letter well or you know nothing about lettering and want to understand the kind of work that letterers do, I highly recommend this as a great read. Through my experience, I developed very different methods than what this guide described, but both are valid and I even picked up new ideas and tried out new ways of doing things while reading this book. If you want to learn how to letter, buy this book. If you want to be a better letterer, buy this book. If you don't want to letter but you want to know more about how comics are made or how one freelances in this industry, this guide is great for that too. The only thing missing is a thorough explanation on how to develop one's own comic book fonts, but like the author said, that would take up an entire book in itself. Here's hoping one day there's a companion guide to comic book font creation, because I would love to learn more about that too.
